All wood is not the same. Where the wood is from, the variety of tree and how long it has been dead will all play a role in how well and hot your fire burns. The best firewood in Australia is from west of the Great Diving Range. The western ironbark and box grow up tough in the harsh conditions and once the trees are felled and aged for 20 to 50 years a hotter and better burning wood is hard to find. This is why for the last 25 years we have only supplied Brisbane and its pizza oven restaurants the best Aged Western Ironbark and box.
Beware: some unprofessional suppliers may supply treated timber from green pine logs or railway sleepers. This can be toxic to people especially if you intend to cook over that timber. Do not risk using inferior quality or harmful wood.
We recommend you keep your wood covered in a shed, garage or under a tarp.
